Brushing for a difference!

We are proud to be teaming up with Dentaid a dental charity that helps provide dental equipment in many different countries as well as sending a team of volunteer dental professionals from the UK to countries where there is real shortage of dental care. The volunteers run clinics and outreach programmes in refugee camps, remote villages, schools, prisons, orphanages and community buildings.
Dentaid also runs toothbrushing programmes and oral health lessons in nurseries, schools and community buildings in the UK and overseas. From sugar awareness to combating infant oral mutilation. Promoting importance of good oral health can help prevent people suffering the trauma of toothache and ensuring there is safe oral care for everyone.
Lastly, the charity works alongside in-county dentists to share expertise and promote the best practice. They provide training and opportunities for dental students and graduates.

What motivates you?
'A great challenge always motivates me; Solving problems and finding the best solution in an environmentally way is most definitely an interesting challenge. It is very possible to create an eco-conscious business, it's all about dedication and finding the right team to move forward with.'
Why did you create Tooth.?
'The toothbrush is such an everyday necessity that we don't necessarily stop and think about its environmental impact. This is why Tooth. was born! We wanted to provide a daily plastic-free solution for everyone. I always believed that any big changes starts with the smallest ofactions, so why not start withthe simple act of brushing your teeth ;)'
Anything else you think people should know about you?
'Like many, I dream of an eco-home, having my own vegetable garden and being surrounded by dogs! But in the meantime, I do lots of yoga and meditation, making sure to always bring positive vibes to the team!'

What motivates you?
'Inspiring others to have a more positive impact on the environment with simple and well designed eco-friendly objects is what motivates me the most. As a designer, especially now, it is so important to consider all aspects of a design. I love the challenge of trying to find new alternatives and solutions, testing different materials and discovering new production processes... To quote a famous billboard "Waste is a design flaw", and I completely agree with that.
Why did you create Tooth.?
'I was simply frustrated with the average plastic toothbrush. The manual toothbrush is such a product of necessity that there wasn't much aesthetic put into it, all it had to do was brush your teeth right? It's boring and it wasn't benefiting the planet in any way. I wanted to change that, and thus, Tooth. was created! I wanted to create something that not only benefits the people but also the planet.'
Anything else you think people should know about you?
'Apart from making toothbrushes, I love to make sculptures and furniture with scrap metal. A passion I always had since I was a kid.'
